Insider Risk Simulation exercise
People are an organisation’s biggest asset. However, in some cases they can also pose an insider risk. Insider events happen when those within a workforce act against the interests of the organisation. They come in many forms and their consequences can be devastating.
When an insider event happens, it will break across multiple channels. It can be a confusing and chaotic time. Would you know how to act if an insider event happens? Will different teams operate in silos or through close collaboration? Will you be able to engage both internal and external audiences effectively?
Effective communication is a vital part of responding to an insider event. To help organisations experience what this could feel like, the National Protective Security Authority (NPSA) has launched new Insider Risk Simulation exercises, including free-to-access crisis training and bespoke training through a licensed partner. The free-to-use resources cover two types of insider event – unauthorised disclosure and sabotage. Inspired by real events, each exercise provides all that a facilitator needs to manage a crisis simulation and apply the learnings back to your teams.
These exercises were developed with the combined expertise of behavioural scientists and crisis communication specialists. They were launched after testing and refinement with more than 125 organisations across the public and private sector. They will take you through the experience of a successful insider event and help illustrate why your organisation needs to be insider risk ready. The materials offered are suitable for all levels, but especially those that may be new to the topic. This includes guidance, facilitator notes, background briefings, a step-by-step look at an unfolding crisis event, and ready-to-use presentation materials. Start your team’s journey to becoming insider risk ready today.
