C-UAS DTI System Assessment – Expressions of Interest Now Open

Last Updated 19 April 2024

NPSA is the UK Government’s National Technical Authority for Physical and Personnel Protective Security and provides protective security advice to organisations, both private and public, that deliver the UK’s essential services and facilities.

To mitigate against the misuse of UAS, NPSA has established a testing programme for Counter UAS (C-UAS) Detect, Track and Identify technologies. This testing programme sets out to assess a number of key performance indicators against a range of UAS and threat scenarios, against the NPSA technical standard. These indicators include launch detection quality, tracking accuracy and ability to identify.

Upon successful completion of testing, an entry will be added to the NPSA Catalogue of Security Equipment (CSE). This catalogue is used by security professionals in charge of protecting sensitive sites, CNI sites and crowded places. On completion of this testing, there will also be the opportunity to access feedback regarding the installation, performance and usability of the technology to aid in further development.

Expressions of Interest (EoI) are now invited for Tranche 4 of the test cycle which will be limited to 6 companies for FY 24/25. More testing slots might become available in Q4, but this is not guaranteed. Unlike in previous years, NPSA will only be testing during pre-arranged testing slots. Suppliers of mature C-UAS systems are now invited to submit an EoI for consideration for one of the test periods that will take place in financial year 24/25. The dates for each test window are shown below:

Test Start Date

24th June 2024

2nd September 2024

25th November 2024

The deadline for expressions of interest is 26th April 2024.
If we are unable to fill all test slots by this date, we will be reopening for expressions of interest in summer 2024.

In order to be considered for evaluation, your C-UAS product must meet the following criteria:

  • Be at technology readiness level 8 or 9

  • Be capable of operating offline (i.e. with no internet or other external connectivity)

  • Display detections, tracks, alarms and (optionally) identification information on a Human Machine Interface (HMI)

  • Be capable of being used by an operator with a maximum of one day of training

Further information will be required during the application process.
